Hannah Jennings, Animal Health and Nutrition Advisor, Castec Rural Supplies

“I’ve been using FECPAKG2 for about 10 months to offer worm egg counts without bias…It's a great opportunity to build trust with clients, because they’re getting an independent service.”

So says Hannah Jennings from Naracoorte-based Castec Rural Supplies, part of the CRT network. Hannah is the store’s animal health and nutrition advisor and says when she decided to offer faecal egg counts it didn’t take her long to settle with FECPAKG2. “It’s independent and means we could provide WEC testing without any bias.”

“It’s been excellent and very easy to use once you get your head around it. It’s quick and easy and I get the results directly to my email usually within an hour. Training’s been great. I didn't have much of an idea when I started but once I’d had online training it was simple. The team have always responded quickly and are really helpful if I have any questions,”

Hannah says even low egg counts are an opportunity for the store. “I find that even when there’s a zero egg count it's a positive as it builds trust with my customers. They recognise that I’m not there just to sell them products. I suggest we test again in another six weeks, if the counts are high they come back and buy the best drench suitable to their livestock’s needs, because they trust the results.”

Castec launched this independent faecal egg count service in 2019 with an Animal Health Symposium which attracted about 120 customers. Since then they have reminded customers with advertising on Facebook and also an on-hold message on their phone.

Hannah also credits FECPAKG2 with making a contribution to her 2019 accolade from CRT for Excellence in Innovation.
