How to use the FECPAKG2 Test Kit

Step 1: Choose Test Type

Decide if you want to test a mob or individual animal; or take a pasture spore to test for Facial Eczema.

    Individual
An individual test can be used if you want a FEC or Faecal Spore count for an individual animal.
    Mob
Mob FEC tests are the best way to build an overall picture of your mob’s parasite burden or Faecal spore level.
    Pasture Sample
Pasture Spore test involves collecting pasture samples to give you an indication of the spore levels of the sampled paddock.

Step 2: Collect the Sample

  • Individual: Take a pinch from 3 different areas of the sample.
  • Mob: Sheep, Goats and Alpacas: 1 equal scoop from 20-30 different samples.
  • Cattle and Horses: 3 scoops from different parts of 10-15 pats.
  • Pasture Spore: Remove a pinch of grass to ground level. Walk 6 paces and repeat, in a ‘W” direction across the paddock. Fill the sample bag.

Complete the submission label with your sample details and attach the label to the front of the sample bag.

Step 3: Courier Your Sample

Exclude air and seal the bag properly and place it in one of the containers provided. Put it in one of the supplied pre-paid courier bags and the samples will be sent to our FECPAKG2 Lab. Please do not courier on a Thursday or Friday.

Lab processing is included in the test, you will receive your results via email as soon as as it has been processed.
